It will ultimately be on its own VLAN and behind a Cisco ASA 5505 which has a Security Plus license. QB is on a different server, so it'll have to be file share. The timesheet uses IIS, but need local or file share access to the Quickbooks file. The ESXi host has plenty of spare capacity. The server is Server 2008 R2 on an ESXi host, with a single core of a Xeon E5405 and 4GB RAM. Fortunately, we'll be testing in-house first for at least a month, so I've got time to do it right. I've never dealt with IIS or hosting a web server open to the world, so this is new territory for me. Trust me, it's a big step up from what we use now. My company has settled on a web-based timesheet solution that links into Quickbooks.
